Fall Citizen

What does it mean to be a citizen one may ask; does it mean being part of a community as a whole? Or does it mean owning up to your roots; you can even argue being a citizen just has to do with your lifestyle in correlation with location. After talking to Patrick Tier the owner of Citizen, I gained a little more insight and how he channels that very essence into his store.
Patrick himself worked out East in Canada. Since he already knew the ropes of retail from buying, selling, and marketing, he found himself in Victoria. Then came a thought of opening his own shop, it was the next best move. Sometimes taking a step-back from the high pace world and owning what you love works best; it then becomes your baby.
I was curious while eyeing the beautiful tailored pieces in the store. This could easily be an extension of ones wardrobe, especially his. The store strikingly matches his personality to a tee. So I asked him, Patrick chuckled, and pointed out that in some aspects yes, but as a whole catering to his buyers is his main goal, and providing variety.  He continued with some advice that I though was smart for any person wanting to start a business; never underestimate your customers they are smart and knowledgeable it’s up to you to provide what they want. Spoken truly, I couldn’t agree more.
After hearing his wise words the next question arose, what does Citizens ideal customer look like? After a discussion I found out that there business doesn’t thrive off a particular look for a target customer. They seek Men who look for a lifestyle and need quality items to satisfy their day-to-day life. As many people think Canada or better yet Victoria lacks in style, Patrick denies such notion. He believes people here don’t follow top trends. The customer urges for timeless pieces that will accentuate their wardrobe and can be worn time and time again five years down the road. You can all be sure that your buying top quality pieces, Patrick himself picks top of line, only excepting options that will last, and that will benefit your wardrobes men. Quality versus quantity should be the main viewpoint.
Now if that’s what victoria’s men strive for in a wardrobe, what makes Citizen different from the competition? Well Patrick couldn’t express it enough, being a citizen to where you live is important because that cultivates a lifestyle. And when you have a lifestyle, your own personal style stems from that. This makes Citizen different, providing garments to suit a lifestyle not just clothes that look cool. So when you step into the store you know you’re in good hands!

Now comes the fun stuff, what’s in store for fall? I told Patrick, if he could only pick a few items that every man must have for the up coming season what would it be? Without hesitation he said a pair of Chuck Taylors regardless of color. I couldn’t agree more after seeing his outfit; they just added an easygoing flare to it all. If you don’t believe me try it out for yourself! As agreed no man can go with out denim, he enthusiastically said that Baldwin denim is definitely a must have. After looking at a pair I agree, the make is amazing, thick and will last for years. The other must have item that was on the list was a knit cardigan, versatile and easy going it’s easy to add to your fall collection.
If you haven’t already found your way into Citizen, take some time and do. I can easily say they truly do shop for you, and to proved the best garments with a little twist than any man would love. I guarantee once you walk in you’ll know you’re a citizen.
